Action Plan for Supporting the Work-Life Balance for University Staff

Expert Committee on Gender Equality Promotion has proposed the following action plan for supporting the work-life balance of faculty.

1. As a rule, meetings after 5PM and on weekends/vacations are prohibited.

2. Department Heads established create an environment in which childcare leave can be easily obtained, and details of this arrangement and support framework shall be publicized.

3. For faculty member who are raising children up to 2 years of age, Department Heads shall make appropriate judgements in accordance with conditions in the department and reduce or excuse such staff from their classroom and committee work.

* The faculty member to which No. 3 refers cover both men and women, single-person households (people with no spouse, people who have been transferred for work, etc.) as well as people with a working spouse (including those who are receiving long-term medical treatment).
*  People who have been transferred for work refer to people who live separately from their families regardless of whether they are receiving a transferee allowance.
